United Memorial Gardens is proud to provide host a tour of our unique Tabernacle on Saturday, September 24. Choose from our morning or early afternoon tour times.
One of the many unique features at United Memorial Gardens is the picturesque Tabernacle built in 1985 by former park owner Ed Wensley, before the cemetery was purchased by Park Lawn Corporation. Mr. Wensley claimed it was the first to-scale replica in the world of the Tabernacle referenced in the Bible. The original Tabernacle was a movable dwelling-place/sanctuary used by the Israelites in the Book of Exodus. Inside of the United Memorial Gardens Tabernacle are replicas of the Ark of the Covenant, the golden lampstand, and more.
This tour will provide a deeper history of not only how and why the Tabernacle was built but what it represents, and the various pieces of art and other objects inside and around the exterior of the structure. United Memorial Gardens has provided private tours in the past, but this is the first tour open to the public in several years. A short program will be heard and light refreshments available. We encourage attendees to ask questions during this FREE event.
Separate tours of the park and its many unique sections, including the 37 “Wonders of Michigan” features are also available. These “Wonders” include a series of marble pedestals boasting of Michigan tourist attractions arranged in the shape of the Lower Peninsula.
Light refreshments will be served. Fill out the for below to reserve your spot and call 734-454-9448 for further questions.
